Wheaton-Glenmont
 
Public education in Wheaton-Glenmont is provided by Montgomery County Public Schools. The district serves approximately 140,000 students county-wide through about 200 campuses, including Oak View Elementary and Argyle Middle School. Two magnet programs provide for the needs of advanced students in the lower grades, while Einstein High School and Wheaton High School both offer specialized technical training curricula.

Wheaton Regional Park and Sligo Creek Parkway Trail are two of the major natural landmarks in the area. Wheaton Regional is an extensive site that incorporates Shorefield Playground, Pine Lake, a miniature train, an historic carousel, plus Brookside Nature Center, Brookside Gardens and F. Frank Rubini Athletic Complex. Brookside Nature Center and Gardens are definitely sites not to miss. The Nature Center has several wildlife viewing areas as well as a pioneer homestead. Brookside Gardens is a 50-acre flower display featuring seasonal blooms against a tropical green background that keeps its color year-round.

Sligo Creek Parkway Trail links Wheaton Regional Park to neighboring communities and several other local parks. The Parkway runs through the center of Sligo Creek’s flood plain, where patches of dense forest make for a serene getaway.

With Washington, D.C. so close by, Wheaton-Glenmont residents also have access to many more recreation sites, including historic monuments, world-class performing arts, fine dining and dazzling nightlife. Rock Creek Park and the National Zoo are great venues for the kids, while history enthusiasts will enjoy a thorough exploration of the National Mall. As well, there are many professional sports team to cheer on, including the Washington Redskins (NFL), Washington Wizards (NBA) and DC United (MLS).
